Public Hospital Patients

Dr Jayasundera provides treatment for patients who elect to be treated within the public system, at Armadale Hospital.

Your GP can refer you through the Central Referral Service, the waiting time for an appointment can be up to one year.

You can also be referred to Dr Jayasundera directly. After a medicare subsidised consultation, your further treatment can be organised through the public system for no further cost. Appointments can be made through Dr Jayasundera’s rooms.

There are no fees for surgery in the public hospital, however there is a waiting list. Your position on the waiting list will be based on the severity of your condition.

In the Public system, the surgery is sometimes performed by a registrar (specialist surgeon in training), but they are closely supervised by the Consultant Surgeon who you are admitted under.
